Campaign Update

Hello to you all. I apologize for the lack in postings but I was laid up for 2 weeks after having minor surgery on June 29. Things have been progressing nicely for the campaign. Campaign workers have been attending meetings and keeping me updated on current events and issues in the community and I have been making phone calls while on limited mobility. With the race now down to 6 things are sure to start getting more exciting. There is a candidates forum on July 23 from 6-8:15 at the Oak Square YMCA. Signs Tampered With

Today was a strange and unsettling day for the campaign. 2 of our signs went missing overnight. 1 was on brooks and the other on Parsons. Both were securely placed and would have had to have an effort put in to remove them. The committee then received a call from the owner of a home on Brooksdale Rd stating that a sign had been placed on his property without permission. The sign was obviously taken down immediately. It turned out to be 1 of the missing signs from overnight. I then *69 the owner of the home on Brooksdale and reached District 1 BPD. When I asked who had called I was told no one in the office but someone had passed through and used their phone. It all seems a little suspicious to me. These signs are not just a piece of cardboard, they represent the faith & trust of those who support my candidacy. They represent my lifelong love of politics and ambition to be your next Councilor. I plead with those who find it funny or entertaining, or those who may be trying to make a bad name for my campaign, to think twice before tampering with another's dreams. I am dedicated to this community and to representing our community in City Hall. There is a fear out there, which I have heard from many, that because I'm the youngest I may mobilize the 18-25 year old voters which would shift this election immensely. Obviously it would be great if those voters came out in large numbers to support my campaign. I would be happy to have them on board. The 2 signs that went missing have been replaced and more signs have gone up. We also dropped more literature today and invitations for our Fundraiser On June 28th at The Kells. I look forward to many more weeks of campaigning and to meeting even more residents in the community to discuss the future of Allston/Brighton.

A Good Day

Today was a good day for the campaign. We dropped literature in the area and delivered over 100 invitations for the fundraiser at The Kells on June 28th from 7-10. I was told today by a local resident that he had read a news story regarding the race. He remembered they had mentioned my candidacy. What they had said basically was that of all the candidates I, being the youngest and lesser known, am the candidate who wouldn't have allegiances to any particular group or interests. I would be solely accountable to the residents. It got me thinking about that for the 1st time. I have to agree that it makes sense to me and is true. I won't owe anybody anything. The only people I owe are the residents. I'm not swayed by special interest. I'm young enough and brave enough to stand up to powers that be. I believe its truly time that the residents come first. I am eager to be your Councilor and really shake things up and give Allston/Brighton the advocate it deserves.

Another update

So we put some more yard signs up today and also started dropping our literature around Brighton. We will be dropping over 1000 pieces this week in the area. I cant tell you all how honored I am to speak with residents and gain their support. To have another person put their faith and trust in you is an amazing feeling. I look forward to proving that this trust is not misplaced in me and that as your City Councilor I will work tirelessly to improve our community. I would also like to thank the Brighton-Allston Bicentennial Committee for sponsoring today's Riverfest. It was a great success and a wonderful day for the whole family.

1st Business endorsement

Today was an exciting one for the campaign. Our 1st yard signs went up. We also received our 1st business endorsement from Wings Express on Washington St. Take a drive by and see our sign in their window. The next few days promise more signs and more endorsements to come. Please check back soon.

Campaign Update

Today was a productive one for the campaign. We received word from our printer that we will have our yard signs tomorrow. We also received our banner. This weekend we will be dropping over 1000 literature pieces and 200 invitations for our Campaign Kickoff Fundraiser at the Kells on June 28th. We are all excited about Riverfest on Saturday, looking forward to a great community event. Keep checking back for more updates.

Welcome to my blog

Officially the race has begun and things are really exciting now. Being out in the community and meeting with residents has been a dream come true to me. I have been able to sit with homeowners and parents who are concerned over the rising property taxes and lack of adequate resources in schools. I have been able to speak with students from both Harvard & Boston College who are concerned with their perception as "party people." They want to make sure that a few parties don't cast a negative shadow over the entire student population. They would also like to help in including the surrounding neighborhood and its residents, rather than excluding us during the ongoing expansions. I believe it is time we have a planning board for the BRA so as to curb the out of control development that is enveloping our community.

In closing allow me to say that I am honored to be a candidate to represent my constituents on the City Council. I am a strong and persistent voice of advocacy for my community and look forward to a lively campaign and a victory in November.
